i answer california. and people usually try to get to this question... " what ethnicity are u?" Sometimes i give ppl a hard time and insist on answering california until they sometime ask" where are ur ancestors from and all".
So far people have guessed that i am of these ethnicities

japanese
IRAQ ppl i dont know what they are called. !!!! i am still in disbelief.

hehe believe me i do the same thing. of course, it's not enough for people when we tell them that our asian faces are American (Californian). Especially my students...
Hey I was like 3 hours too late booking my ticket so the prices skyrocketed...I might have to go to Nagoya first or something, I'll let you know
Same thing in Italy! (for the most part). I didn't have them guess though, though most assume Japanese since the majority of tourists are Japanese.
